“The number of arrests has been raised from the previous year to more than 50 in the last two years,” he said. “This is a very, very serious issue. I think this is going to continue to be a very, very serious issue.”
But the city’s police department is struggling. The number of arrests has increased from around 7,000 last year to 5,200 this year.
“We have got to get back to that level,” said Sgt. Jason Scott, the city’s chief information officer.
