Julian Randall, a senior adviser at the Brookings Institution’s National Security Program, said the U.S. does not have a “proportional situation” to protect the nation’s borders against Islamist extremist attacks.
“We are not at a position where we can directly intervene militarily,” Randall said.
Trudeau’s immigration policy has already been criticized for accommodating a large number of immigrants from Muslim-majority nations, including Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.

“It’s not even — let’s face it — about taking in all the refugees,” he added, referring to the number of people who travel to the U.S. annually.
The Trudeau government said it will give immigrants who have committed terrorist acts the same protection.
